Whipped Coffee

At some point this summer whipped coffee became a thing. I found out about it on Facebook from my friend. I've experimented with various amounts of instant coffee and sugar, with whisks and water temperature...and I've perfected my morning coffee:

WHIPPED COFFEE DIRECTIONS:

· 1 TBSP Instant Coffee (equivalent to 3 cups of regular coffee)

· ½ TBSP granulated sugar (add up to another ½ TBSP if you like sweeter coffee)

· 1 splash of cold water

· Electric whisk

Whisk the ingredients until fluffy! It's that simple!

I think the electric whisk works the best. I've been using my Cuisinart whisk attachment (so much so that it's broken and I need to replace it). I have tried using a hand-held frother and it just doesn't whip up as well.

If you're not used to instant coffee, you'll notice that it has a strong taste (I use a medium bold blend--that's the most mild I've been able to find locally). This is where the sugar comes in handy. The trick to making your coffee fluffy is the sugar. I've found that the least amount of sugar I can add is half the amount of instant coffee.

Here's the other thing to know about instant coffee: 1 tsp is equal to 1 cup of coffee...so if you're only used to drinking 1 cup a day, don't make whipped coffee using 1 TBSP! You'll be BOUNCING off the walls...trust me. I learned the hard way.

Have you made whipped coffee before? I'd love to hear how you make it or if you know any other secrets I don't! I've stuck with this method of coffee for the last 8 months.
